Pattern Making in Clay! with Ling Chun (3 week workshop)
Pattern Making in Clay! with Ling Chun (3 week workshop)
This workshop introduces pattern making and screen-printing techniques on clay, combining simple slab building with image transfer processes. Students will learn how to design, burn, and apply screen-printed imagery onto ceramic surfaces using underglaze. The course covers key stages of clay, from wet to greenware, and basic firing knowledge at low temperatures (cone 04). Emphasis is placed on surface design, consistency of application, and understanding how materials behave during firing. By the end of the workshop, students will create their own printed ceramic pieces and gain foundational skills in both construction and surface decoration. Open practice hours support skill development and experimentation throughout the course.
*Students will have access to our practice calendar until the the 27th of June for making work. Students will only have access to printmaking processes during class days.
*Students who enroll in this workshop are allowed to also sign up for another class for the Summer quarter.
