Developing a portfolio and learning studio skills- a seminar style class with Ling Chun and others

Have you considered applying for a residency or a ceramics degree program?  One usually needs a portfolio of recently completed work, an artist statement, and some knowledge of how to work independently in the studio.  This seminar style class aims to teach some of those skills in both visual and verbal ways.

This is a class for folks who already have ceramic skills.  There won’t be how-to demonstrations in this class, but engagement with a supportive community to hear about your current work.  Your teachers will be your technical and aesthetic coaches, with the group helping ask questions of one another.  (the class will take turns giving presentations and getting feedback.)   John Taylor, our Studio Manager will also contribute by giving hands-on experience loading and firing kilns.

The group will also look at compelling portfolios and artist statements for inspiration, and visit a couple of artist studios outside of class time.

Class dates: Fridays, 9/16-11/18
Class time: 10am-12pm
